Mental Health Services Expanded for Veterans and Their Families
The United States Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) announced last week that it will add approximately 1,900 more mental health workers, to include nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers as well as nearly 300 support staff. This is in part of its mission to expand access to mental health services for veterans and their families. In order to access these mental health services and more , veterans’ and their families can contact the Veterans’ Crisis Hotline.
Since its inception in 2007, the Veterans Crisis Hotline has received more than 500,000 calls. Veterans and their loved ones can call 1-800-273-8255 and Press 1, chat online, or send a text message to 838255 to receive confidential support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
